As hospitals in nations hardest hit by Ebola struggle to keep up, desperate patients are turning to the black market to buy blood from survivors of the virus, the World Health Organization warned.
The deadliest Ebola outbreak in history has killed at least 2,400 people in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone -- the countries most affected by the virus.
Blood from survivors, referred to as convalescent serum, is said to have antibodies that can fight the deadly virus. Though the treatment is unproven, it has provided some promise for those fighting a disease that's killing more than half of those it has infected.

What a mess Africa is.
It’s almost as if there is a common problem among African nations...
Beats paying the local witchdoctor
I was channel surfing earlier this afternoon and landed on The Doctors, a medical talkshow. I missed part of it, but they were talking about the Ebola outbreaks, US troops, and the potentiality for Ebola to transform and become airborn.
They didnt offer any solutions, but they seemed scared that a potential pandemic outbreak could occur in the US, due to the openness of travel in and out of the country.

Probably a good idea. Its not like desperate people have many options. There isn’t much of a downside.
“They didnt offer any solutions, but they seemed scared that a potential pandemic outbreak could occur in the US, due to the openness of travel in and out of the country.”
Our own troops could bring it back. Our gov is so stupid.
I wonder if all the Enola Alarmists in the US were planning to do the same thing?
pong
I guess its only been useful since the early 1900's. Maybe more testing by the FDA is necessary.
Nothing good has ever come out of Africa. I have a young friend who’s headed to Madagascar for missionary work. Sure, it’s on the other side of the country, but still not a good idea, imo.
>Aside from the fact that AIDS is also rampant in Africa
The savages already have a cure for that; they just rape a virgin.
WHO is upset because they're not controlling it.
Agreed.
Probability of AIDS, which is probably present in sub 1% and will kill in a decade or so vs Ebola which is likely to affect 20%+ and kill 70% in a week. Those are good odds.
It would seem the supply of survivor’s blood would quickly disappear.
Look for acts of cannibalism to follow.
Madagascar is not Africa.
