Americans have to come to understand that Turkey is no longer the modern nation founded by Ataturk. It is not the same political entity that sent troops to Korea, joined NATO, or once wanted to integrate with Europe. It is now controlled by Islamists. It allows ISIS recruits to transverse its borders into Syria. It allows ISIS to export the oil the barbarians have seized. Its leaders cannot be trusted and dream themselves of reestablishing the Ottoman caliphate, this time financed by the oil their ancestors did not know they possessed.
Precisely. Sadly, 75% of Americans must first learn about Ataturk and the young turks, in order to appreciate the change.
