A word that has no relation to nazi era stuff, but obviously the author is smitten enough with it that he had to throw it in.
It (Steam punk) is kind of geek version of Victorian era stuff, contraptions and wear with a sort of rube goldberg touch and lots of iron, brass, copper and leather.
The photo showing the mechinisms reminds me a bit of steampunk and the “rube goldberg” aspect of it.
The rock group Rush with their latest album (Clockwork Angels) went the entire Steampunk route in telling the tale. Flying machines powered by steam, etc. Creative set designs for their concerts. (And lots of fire).
