You don’t get it! How is a rape victim being forced to pay ANY child support for ANY period of time?! I don’t give a s**t if he knew about the baby, his paternity or any other thing. He was a FOURTEEN YEAR OLD child at the time he was raped. The fact that he had to have an erection in such a case should mean exactly nothing! An adult raped a child and you want her to gain from it. What website am I at?

well, usually the guys here on FR (many of them) think it is fine and dandy when a young boy is taken by an older woman... as long as she is HOT!

For a young guy like that, whether it’s legal or not, doing the deed with an older woman gives them street cred. Thats just the way it is. Because of the law, though, he shouldn’t be made to pay child support. The law says that even though he consented, he is still a victim of statutory rape.

You thinking that this woman will go to jail. Hell, she’ll probably run for city council.

By not doing that when he first learned of it basically meant, under the law, he was accepting it was his.

He has to pay.

~Are you people high? Did you read the article? He was FOURTEEN and she was a 20 year old adult! And you think that child support should be awarded to a rapist?!~

I know it is pretty much messed up situation but he is still a father and it is not a rapist but a child who is awarded support.

I’m an adoptee, something I don’t mention here much. The child would be better off put up for adoption in a case like this.

Never having had the experience of being been taken by an older woman (when I was a minor) I have no idea how traumatic it might have been. I suspect it may not have been as traumatic to a boy than to a girl, being that there are differences between the sexes (forget gender), most important of which only females can get pregnant and the natural readiness of males (even teens) to have sex without preliminaries or emotional involvement.

That “child” will not be spending that money, the mother/rapist will. Do you TRULY believe that the victim of a rape owes child support in any instance?

If a 14 year old girl was raped and gave birth to the child and did not put it up for adoption, would she be expected to provide care for it? Yes, she would.

It’s not about the parent, or the raped or raper. It’s about the child. He’s the biological parent, he should pay child support.

Read the article. He doesn’t mind paying, and wants to be the girls dad. He just doesn’t want to pay back child support and at least some of that is because he ignored the initial request and let penalties build up.

I think not, but I believe some people think differently and I actually may understand their arguments.
I think a victim might be obliged to pay support but a victim also has right to sue a perp to compensate expenses (which is kinda funny in this situation, but anyway).

Again the child support is not for the mother it's for the child, even though the mother is trustee with no accountability to anyone.

I think all states should past laws dividing the time with the kids equally. I think more than half already have. But that would take the fight and bitterness out of most divorces. And it would make child support more reasonable, as only the differential in incomes would be considered, not the differential in visitation time.

I think this Dad is owed 6 years of visitation rights with the child. But I'd go slowly in the beginning, since the child has only known her mother.

Do you not hear yourself? You want the victim of a serious, Class A felony to make a monthly payment to the rapist for about 18 years. That’s like saying that if ISIS stole my liver from my body and transplanted it into their leader and he later dies, I should pay restitution to his kinfolk.

You don't know that. I'm glad it worked out for you, but it doesn't work out for all adoptees. The foster care horror stories abound.

I don't see anything that says the mother doesn't love this girl. And it's appears that the Dad has come around and is willing to love her too. We aren't given all the facts in this case. Why did the mother after 7 years request child support. Maybe she was down on her luck and needed help. But he wasn't too bright ignoring it for 2 years.

Are you suggesting biological mothers should be forced to give their kids up for adoption if statuatory rape is involved?

[EXPLETIVE], are you serious? This isn't a divorce case! An ADULT raped a CHILD, resulting in the rapist becoming pregnant. The MOTHER/RAPIST should be in PRISON and the CHILD VICTIM should have never been identified, due to confidentiality. The courts could handle the affairs of the innocent infant who resulted from this crime without getting the victim involved through other avenues available to them. The very idea of a victim of underage rape being pursued by the courts for monetary damages is totally repugnant on it's face.

Are you 12 years old? She needs to be in jail, he should be left alone.

No I want the child supported.

Now I’m fine with the courts giving him custody after the girl gets used to him, and letting her pay the child support. I figure she stole 6 years of his child’s life from him.

But if he has custody, he’s going to be paying anyway.

Again, if it was a 14 year old girl, she’d be paying to support the child, even if she was raped, unless she gave it up.

No, in a case like this where the mother is the rapist, I'm DEMANDING it! Just think of what you're proposing here: Let's let a woman keep her baby when it is known that she molested and raped another child several years back. I'm sure she won't do it again, though!

Also, where did I use the words "foster care?"

Men don’t get custody. What country do you live in?

And the daughter gets subjected to the horrors of state foster care???

If he had pressed charges, the child would have been born in prison, and the mother depending on the length of the prison term would lose parental rights. In which case, either the child would have gone to a 15 year old boy, or it would have gone into foster care.

There are no eloquent solutions in this case. But you have to take care of the child.
