Vanity question: Forum back to the top

When I close a thread I have been reading and/or responding to, the display jumps back to the top of the page instead of closing in place so I can go on to the next titles.

TOPICS: Miscellaneous
KEYWORDS: autorefresh; forum; navigating; reboot
Did I inadvertently change a setting somewhere? Threads used to close in place and it's a minor annoyance to have to scroll down past the last one opened to check those below.

Yes, I AM logged in!

I open threads in new tabs with a middle-click. Then I just close the tab.

Open threads you are going to read in another window.
That way the main window will remain where you left it.
Can’t speak to any changes that may have occurred.

Have you tried rebooting?

JimRed my apology for interrupting your thread.

ShadowAce a question please. Have been seeing strange dialog boxes on various websites. Have not seen those strange dialog boxes on Jim's website and know Jim runs a tight ship along with the IT people at this site. My commendations! During your website travels is seeing strange dialog boxes on various other websites becoming a normal? Have noticed in the last few day several websites have been going through what appears to be a purge and clean. Also, want to pick your brain. Prior to 911 were there an extreme number of hacks and dangerous oddities floating on the web as is currently occurring?

I run a fairly tight browser--Firefox with AdBlock Plus, NoScript, and "Yet Another Remove It Permanently" extensions.

I only allow scripts to run a very trusted websites, and never on newly discovered ones. I don't see ads I don't want, and and not nervous about visiting new sites, because I know they can't run scripts without my permission.

I blacklist as many ad services sites as I run into, and several google ad services as well.

With all this tightened down, I rarely--if ever-- see the same issues other people have complained about.

I use Waterfox with AdBlock Plus and NoScript. Never have issues.
