Sometimes a story is too good to be true. Could this be the latest example of that adage at work?
USC is opening an internal investigation into the story of senior cornerback John Shaw saving his nephew from drowning. The story shared by USCs athletics website was inspirational and a touching one. Shaw reportedly suffered a pair of high ankle sprains while allegedly leaping from a second floor balcony into a pool below to save his nephew, who cannot swim.
A day later, USC head coach Steve Sarkisian says there may be conflicting information regarding how the injury to Shaws ankles were suffered.
For now, USC is keeping Shaw from meeting with the media until the university can confirm the information regarding the injuries.
Turns out I may have been wrong.
Right now, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but if he did make up this story, he needs his scholarship yanked yesterday.
people make up stories all the time, remember manti te’o’s fake girlfriend that died?
“that there is no way someone is stupid enough to make up a story like this. “
have you ever seen some of these athletes give interviews?
I saw a link to a you-tube video yesterday interviewing folks who were asked how long it would take a car travelling 80 MPH to travel 80 miles. There are people that dumb.
More likely:
Drunk, or high; jumped from balcony onto concrete. To show off his “manhood” to his peeps, or a woman.
That’s what I thought first thing.
Some of the stories trickling in involve him jumping from a THIRD story balcony to escape the police.
This will provide food for the parasites in the sports talk universe, isn’t that the point of sports now?
Ah yes. The obvious angle! Can’t believe I missed that one! Definitely the most believable.
I am twixt and between over what I would prefer...manti teos fake girlfriend, or Michael Sam’s Real boyfriend...
