I’m sure everything will work out for the best.
Why would signing a lease not be a good idea? If he takes the job in NYC, he would be there for a couple years, I would think. He needs to get that on his resume before he thinks about jumping to another job.
We are ALL on their target list, although I admit that we are slightly less vulnerable in WI.
I remember a local family whose lives were devastated on 9/11/01 when their daughter — just out of college — was killed in one of the Trade Center towers where she had been sent for training for her new job. I knew that kid because she used to wait tables in her parents’ restaurant when she was in HS and college.
Her parents closed and sold their popular eatery and moved to NY to search for their daughter. They stayed on to counsel the parents of other victims. They kept this endeavor going for about 5-6 years and finally came back to Wisconsin and retired. I don’t know what happened to them, but their lives were ruined, including that of their younger daughter who became somewhat ignored as a result of her parents’ grief over the loss of the older one.
My daughter was living in Mahwah, NJ at the time, and more than a dozen of the men in her town were lost (including the fathers of my grandson’s classmates).
So, you cannot be far enough away from the epicenters of terror to be unaffected. There were warnings on 9/11/01 that one of the targets might be the Sears tower in Chicago. That certainly would have affected a lot of people in Wisconsin whose husbands and wives go to work there every day.
IT jobs do not require staying in a job for several years, really. xshub has brought home resumes of people who have interviewed for jobs with him and they move around a LOT. they hold MANY jobs in a 5 year or so span. Getting the first job is key, subsequent jobs are easier to come by. He needs the practical experience. Guess we will see. The FIRST job is the one that’s tougher to come by.
Not saying everyone is not at risk, but explaining why wrongs from 200 years ago have a hard time registering on my give a dang meter when we live with a bulls-eye on us, currently.
Election day. Democrat operatives drive scores of voters from one polling place to another, and even from one state to another. The occupants have scribbled fake names in so many registration books that their hands and arms become smeared with marks from their pens. Their vehicle could be called an incubus.
A+++ happens all the time!
I think a year of experience would be good. I would see someone who worked for multiple companies like that as flighty, flaky and maybe not too good.
Certainly not interested in anything but themselves.
I am sure you would see that in such an applicant, but it is different in your field than in IT. xshub has hired many IT types and Karim vets them all, that is not seen as flighty in that field. And certainly a desire to relocate back to home area is a satisfactory response to any questions in that regard.
So when I went to pick up my group of Little Leaguers, and they asked how I was going to cart them home, I just pointed at my boxy little NIssan and simply said “incubus”.
Maybe he’ll like New York. Meet a nice girl, etc. You never know.
A+++ cute lil clown car ; ) LOL!
anything is possible, but for someone who considers himself a “southern gentleman” and who cannot abide the Rangers, unlikely!
Thread pulled. What was it?
It was pulled. We have new chickies in the backyard, 10-11 weeks old, Fiona and Martha, who keep escaping their little caged area to keep them safe from the big hens. Our upstairs AC went out yesterday and it’s supposed to be in the mid 90s all week. I have oral surgery scheduled for this week. Incubus of a week so far.
Brit embassy in DC had a little party with a cake to celebrate the bicentennial of the burning down of the White House.
People freaked on Twitter and the Brits apologized.
Lots of people without a grip or a sense of humor.
It was inappropriate. They can do it in their own country, not while they are guests on OUR soil.
dave filled you in, i see.
