Nothing to do with Q&R but something is up at my company. Maybe format change, sell Pittsburgh, mass house cleaning, buy WTAE 1250...who knows, but something is up.
I hope any changes do not have a negative effect on you.
Radio seems like a dog eat dog business. I always wanted to be a DJ but it seems you’re only as good as your last rating book.
There are two types of people who work in radio...those who are fired and those waiting to be fired. It’s a sad commentary on me that I’ve been with the same company for 30 years...sigh.
the other night I was driving I70 to Washington PA and the radio pulled in radio stations from Boston, Virginia and Philly but couldn’t get KDKA or WJAS.
The Boston Station came in loud and clear. The call signs were WBZZ I think.

Son called last night around 9:45 to say that there was a muslim-sounding show on at the 1320 mark. Second time I heard that. Weird!

I hope you can have another 30 (or as many years as you WANT to be there).
Just an observation, but yesterday I noticed 2 small local business’s w/total liquidation signs.
When my kids were little, I worked for an inventory service (I foolishly worked my way “up” to a gray shirt, team leader). September, I learned started the liquidation “season” for small business and unproductive chain store locals (time to clear inventory OUT and swing deal w/lessor if new renter can be found). I’m always saddened when I see the “trend” start.
Frequently I cannot get KDKA at my house (Westmoreland County) but pull in KYW from Philadelphia. I can get WJAS at home at random times clear and the (poof!) with a serious (almost painful) buzz. Garbled WJAS in car when anywhere by the TPike (speed monitoring signals?). As The crow flies, I’m about 40 miles from dahntahn :-/
I’ve hear that too! Is it WJAS or is it another station w/a better signal crowding it out? You are right...it’s weird.

I’m getting even more concerned about thie whole ISIS/ISIL thing. Even Hagel is warning that is it a very serious problem and a threat to us on our soil. Rick Perry warning that they are coming over our southern borders. I have no doubt of that.
Where’s the madman-in-chief? On the golf course, naturally. His plans are working perfectly.
Same here....but at 11 PM last night. Thought it was part of that show “Ground Zero”.
WBZ. Legacy blowtorch station in Boston. Also owned by CBS. Yeah their signal can blow KD away at times. I think no one has been maintaining the KD transmitter site because their signal is spotty even locally here in town.
WJAS not much better. Was driving a borrowed car and the signal was not even powerful enough for the scan function to stop on it.
IMO, Tony Renda wanted to either sell or lease WJAS to CC. And CC was looking for a diplomatic way to get the talk off of FM. But Renda does not like controversy. Hence the deal with Iorio (which, one could argue, is really leasing WJAS to him if you look at the transmitter deal) and then having Iorio lease all the time to CC. Keeps Tony’s hands clean.
I also was looking to become a DJ until my college station canned me for saying “bahr”. Everyone I know who had done it are working in other jobs now.
WJAS sucks. weaker than heck. A old Radio Shack “50 in 1 “kit could bang out more power.
Do they even make those things anymore?

home to Boston after some time in Pitts.

next to KDKA
I had better luck getting WJAS in places
like Irwin, Crafton, Parkway west nr airport, PNC
Park, McKees Rocks..downtown (Grant, Smithfield
etc) some elec interference
