Health officials continue to monitor a Bernalillo County woman showing symptoms similar to the Ebola virus.
The woman was traveling in the West African nation of Sierra Leone at the beginning of the month.
She then returned to Albuquerque and soon after began to develop symptoms on Friday. She was admitted to UNM Hospital on Saturday.
The patient is currently undergoing a series of tests and remains in isolation at the hospital -- blood samples will go to the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta.
Health officials say this is not a highly probable case of the virus, but because of the symptoms -- and her recent return from West Africa -- there's no room for guesses.

If the UN was worth two hills of dried beans, they would be involved in controling this outbreak by enforcing quarrentines and guarding hospitals from panicked but dangerously ignorant citizenry. What happened in Liberia this week with doctors being threatened by superstitious locals, and possible Ebola patients walking out of quarrentine should never have been allowed. Even a few vials of the E virus have been stolen. Liberia appears almost as incomptent and destructive as Obumble, I mean Obama.
And don’t forget today’s reports of a break-in / looting spree at a quarantine / isolation healthcare facility in Liberia, which resulted in not only up to 30 Ebola patients getting loose, but also the looters stole sheets and mattresses that were soaked in the patients’ blood, urine, excrement, sweat — perfect bio-terrorism supplies. Can you imagine what the looters plan to do with their booty???

Bet they are using bunny suits and respirators. And I bet the “consistent symptoms” are fever, period.
People have no idea how many sick refugees arrive every day.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.
