I agree with you in theory however what is “maximum”.

I really don’t feel any pity for someone that once lived in a $4 million dollar home that has to downsize to a $300,000 home. Or has to go from driving a new Mercedes to a new Honda.

I see absolutely no legal or moral justification for 5 figure monthly child support payments. Even the most expensive prep schools in the country are going to be $60k and that takes care of 9 months of the year.

Too often ex-wives maintain their lifestyle on child support payments and the kids see nothing of it.

I don’t think we want this tracking off into bad divorce/child support stories because the thread would never end.

An acquaintance at church was paying $9000/mo for child support for ONE kid. The ex took him to court to try to get more and the judge threw her out of court, chastising her for being so greedy.

His offspring were well beyond child support age, so I don’t see what that has to do with it.

Well you could set a maximum alimony equal to the 75% percentile of household income. And a cap of $12,000/yr per child should be sufficient.

If they just adjusted the payments periodically, based on actual income, it would help.
