personally I think the statement that it was the worlds oldest European eel lacks proof, but why would that stop anyone.

I'm more inclined to believe the claimed age of the eel, which will soon be scientifically affirmed than the claimed citizenship of Barack Obama which still lacks acceptable scientific confirmation.

Perhaps you misunderstand me, I am not doubting the age of the eel, I am doubting the veracity that it was the worlds oldest European eel. It's akin to the globull warming crowd claiming a particular, day, week, year the warmest on record when they have limited records to point to.
