Well the engineers are starting to take the broadcast consoles apart. Looks like they are aiming to have in studio live broadcasting for WJAS right after Labor Day.
What that means for Q&R is anybody’s guess right now.
Meanwhile I’ve been tagged to do news for WHJB Greensburg for at least next week. Don’t really want to but I owe the program director a favor so unless I can come up with something I’m stuck.
Might also end up doing it for a couple of other stations...Punxy...Indiana IIRC and another station. So far it’s just WHJB next week but the way it always works is you start doing it and then something happens and one week turns into two...or more.
It would mean drastic changes to my schedule and I’d probably have to get another car. Like we have the money for that!!!!
On a better note I tried something for dinner last night and think it was GREAT. Not so much with mrs p6. Cooked some red cabbage in sweet and sour sauce and topped it with BRINED boneless porkchops.
Mrs p6 said it was too salty for her but to me it tasted just like....REALLY GOOD BACON! The brine was a teaspoon of salt to each cup of water (3). Also a tablespoon of Montreal seasoning and a tiny bit of Kraft hickory smoke bbq sauce. Brined for 4 hours in the fridge then seared in a pan and then oven baked.

I do believe that TeamObama, lead by Valerie Jarrett (D-Iran), must be tap dancing on Robin Williams grave. Even Fox had his passing as story #1. Never mind that Ebola could kill tens of thousands; that thousands are being killed in the Middle East (for being Christians and NOT converting to. Islam or now today, for being Gay); and Missouri has erupted in two days of rioting. Also, what bugs me is Dear Leader chimed in right away...the same guy who did NOT COMMENT on the death of the General in Afghanistan (the one killed by an Afghani trained by US soldier). He cherry picks everything.

Are you going to apply for a job at the new WJAS? I know it’s a business and they can hire whoever they want, but isn’t it easier to retain the current tech staff who know what they are doing?

Speaking of cabbage, I have been making halushki more often. I found an ingenious (to me anyway!) short cut. The Big Bird sells bags of shredded cabbage (no carrots). Carmelize w/onions, mix w/cooked noodles, then into crockpot (set on keep warm).
Quinn has been tweeting sporadically; Rose hasn’t (in months). No mention of any return...but, would the “live” studio be for things like your news reports, and we know they are keeping Glen Meakem...
Yours is a complicated business! But I want to mention that I got WJAS on my late dad’s old (but souped up!) transistor radio yesterday! Maybe they fixed the signal?
I liked Robin Williams, but the coverage was over the top. You are right; so many awful things happening in the world, and look where the focus is directed! My gosh, the Islamists are beheading CHILDREN!! They are crucifying men who will not convert. The blood cult has said they are coming here (they are probably here already!) to take over our White House. And, yes, Obama is celebrating and letting it happen because the focus on Williams is taking the attention away from him and his many screw-ups!
Except for the pre-shredded cabbage, that’s exactly the way I make my halushki. Yum! I might just make some this weekend!
The consoles will be used for everything eventually but mostly for Q&R if they go. Also in house production of commercials, weekend programs and such.
If Q&R do go I might apply IF it’s not CC. CC is notorious for screwing people. Plus they probably will do a news feed from someplace or already have someone lined up if they do local news.
It sounds like the engineers are working on the signal. The night time is usually better than when we had it. The day is good one minute, bad the next.
Mrs p6 isn’t real thrilled with me doing news next week. It will tie me up, tire me out and we have other things planned that need doing. Plus the station won’t appriciate it. If I do it, it’s just to help couple of friends.
That halushki does sound good! We have an extra head of green cabbage. The farmers market was selling them for 50 cents each so we bought a few. Yup, going on the weekend menu.

1320WJAS AM. Signal isn’t great but it depends on where you are.

Hey! That *is* good news! I haven’t been on twitter this week. Started my new job. Longer commute, but free parking. And without food places nearby, I have to bring my lunch - which is better for wallet and waistline.

Wish I could help you out p6 but I got canned from my college radio station for reading a newscast in which I pronounced the word “bear” as “bahr”. Had absolutely no idea such things came slipping out of my mouth. My mom says when I was a toddler in Columbus we were the only non-Kentuckians on the block.
Hopefully at least you won’t have to screen calls for Dr. Winer.
If Mr. Iorio is NOT leasing all of his time to CC you sure can’t tell from listening to WJAS.

Radio Disney selling stations – including WDDZ
Pittsburgh
WDDZ (1250) is up for sale, but that’s because Disney is selling all but one station as it moves to digital delivery. The stations are set to go dark on September 26 – expect for KDIS in Los Angeles. Pittsburgh’s 1250 is best remembered as 1250 WTAE and was sister to 96.1 and WTAE-TV (4).
