I don’t know how old you are, but network news was not always stupid, and people depended on it to help flesh out their news needs.
You also seem to either be too young, or to have so little used news from 1969 through the mid 1970s to have been paying attention to the feminists demands to eliminate the women’s section. Gloria Steinem was a leader in that, don’t you remember?
Steinem even came to think it might have been a mistake.
WASHINGTON (AP) _ White House chief of staff Donald Regan struck a nerve Tuesday among feminists outraged by his comment that most women wouldn’t understand the issues at stake at the U.S-Soviet summit in Geneva.
Regan said he expects the activities of first ladies Nancy Reagan and Raisa Gorbachev to hold high appeal, especially among women.
‘’They’re not ... going to understand (missile) throw-weights or what is happening in Afghanistan or what is happening in human rights,’’ Regan told a Washington Post reporter in Geneva on Sunday. ‘’Some women will, but most women - believe me, your readers for the most part if you took a poll - would rather read the human-interest stuff of what happened.’’
Sorry but network news HAD to always be superficial at best for reasons I already outlined. There’s no choice in the matter, it’s simple logistics. Even without commercials half an hour simply cannot present a useful level of news. Then of course you get the cult of Walter Kronkite in there deciding which wars can and cannot be won and any chance TV news had of being useful just went away.
Network news was useful, something tells me that you weren’t paying much attention to any news in the 1950s and early 1960s, from any source.
Sorry, but you’re wrong. Network news was half of one page of the newspaper. Not useful. you can keep lying to yourself if you insist but the truth is the truth and the truth is TV news has always been crap.

You obviously don’t know this subject at all, you seem to have missed the feminist pressure to remove the women’s page and to start writing about female news from a female point of view.
You have some bizarre idea that a newspaper subscriber would not also tune in for the evening news, and that at one time that was extremely useful.
It is revealing that your last sentence reveals that you were just fighting as an indoctrinated feminist, all argument and no grasp of the actual history, or facts, pure feminist conditioning with a strange twist, your last words seem to admit that I am correct, and that men are to blame for what you have been denying happened.
