(No idea if this violates trademark law, but if it does, and a judge does not overturn the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's ruling canceling the Redskins' trademark registration, there's nothing the team would be able to do about it.)

Ryan Wilson is indeed totally ignorant about trademark law. He completely misunderstands the fact that the Redskins still have rights in their trademark regardless of the actions of the USPTO. There is plenty that the team can do to protect those rights.

But of course it does not seem to have occurred to Ryan Wilson that if he is completely ignorant about a subject, he probably shouldn't write about it and proclaim his ignorance to the whole world.

Then again, he writes for a CBS web site, where "fake but accurate" is apparently still the guiding principle.
