A 3-year-old German shepherd named Max that went missing following an attack by a pit bull named Red in Sacramento is back home with his family, FOX40 reported.
In footage captured by a passing motorists dashboard camera, Red can be seen nipping at Max as the pit bulls owner, Mike Lindstrom, tries to pacify the dog on Sunday afternoon. Red at one point turns his aggression toward his owner, pouncing on him and knocking him to the ground.

Sweetest dog ever. Bet the owner nearly peed his pants when his own dog knocked him down.
No leash is going to protect you from your own dog!
The dog didn’t really attack the owner. It just knocked him down so he could continue his attack on the German Shepherd.
The owner barely got a scratch from that.
I would have considered that an attack if that was my dog, he was laying the law down, on what should have been his master.
I understand that, but he’s lucky to have only a few scratches. Once a dog is in attack mode, there’s no telling who he’ll attack.
Pit bulls like leg meat and face meat, but their best treat is genitals.
Cat licks my eyelids while I'm asleep, he ain't long for the world either.
I'm the most dangerous predator on Terra. I am human. I have an opposable thumb and a trigger finger.

Pitbulls are why I always have a pistol on me when I walk my dogs. A serious attack won’t last very long.
That mutt jumped right up in the air at him, toward his face. Making that much effort is a statement.
Unstable, dangerous dog.
Lock your wife and your dog in the trunk of a car. wait one hour and open it up, guess which one will be happy to see you.
We had a german shepherd that was great with my family, she bit a stranger. Had to put her down. The guy she bit, the wife was upset with me for doing it, but I couldn’t have the liability of her biting a child or someone else. In Iowa, the 2nd bite is harboring a dangerous animal territory.
This is a low-volume list so dont worry!

It's known that some breeds and breed mixes are more predisposed to being guard dogs, or hunting dogs, or protective of their families, or being "one person" dogs. We've had a couple over the years that could be inappropriately aggressive to other dogs or people, although fortunately never dangerously so as it turned out.
The responsibility is always with the owner, IMHO. The pit bull owner was obviously at fault in this case, and personally, I don't see how he would ever be able to trust that dog again to not attack someone or something. If he were my dog, I think I would have to either put him down, or send him to a pit rescue shelter.
The solution is: know YOUR capabilities to train your dog, know what the breed's temperament is likely to be, and then DON'T get a dog you can't handle!! Even with that, they sometimes go "rogue", just like people do, and there's no help for that, but it's the best you can do.
We thankfully never had to put down any of our dogs for behavior reasons, but we sure as heck had to keep a couple of them well guarded and controlled outside their home environment, and be a little wary of them ourselves from time to time...you never know, but they were good dogs in the end!
I nub dem dahs!
(As my great nephew said!)
Maybe the stranger didn’the belong where your dog found him.
I wouldn’t like a stranger in my house.
