Health & Food: Is Better Food the Prescription for a Healthier America? October 27 & 28, 2014 Convene Conference Center, 730 Third Ave., NYC
For decades, a growing body of evidence points to food as the key to improving the health of our bodies, as well as the health of our communities and our environment. Our food choices are informedconsciously or notby policy, society, economics, marketing and, of course, personal choice. Increasingly, food is being touted as a method of prevention, and a prescription for better health.
Convening a diverse group of thought leaders, the James Beard Foundation Food Conference will explore the myriad ways in which food supports personal and public health; fails to deliver on the promise of better health; and both drives and responds to other cultural forces in America today.
Our speakers and provocateurs will include leaders in agricultural technology, nutrition science, processing, manufacturing, policy and public health. They will challenge and widen our perspectives and offer solutions to improving the impact food has on our health. You'll never think the same way about what you eat again.
I was wondering where, that jack@$ was..
Hijacked by the WH how? Because they are talking about health & food?
MOST UNHEALTHY ASPARAGUS SWIMMING IN
A RIVER OF BROWNED BUTTER-TOPPED w/ FRIED
EGGS AND A SHOWER OF SALTY PARM
This is so delicious---a special dish on Sardi's NY menu.
Just brown a whole lot of butter til a nut-like fragrance permeates the air. Fry several eggs in the butter---suuny side up.
Add the eggs and brown butter to a platter of fresh steamed asparagus---then blanket the dish w/ Parm.
Serve w/ hunks of Italian bread to soak up the butter/egg yolk sauce.
James Beard was a BIG FAT man who was never without his male escort, typically young and blonde and of the three dollar bill type...
He was a great chef and did many good things in the communities he lived in.
I can remember meeting him at a friends house, he would not even get up to meet the lady of the house - likely too much effort for his enormous body. I recall thinking: ‘Wow! this guy is FAT! and that guy with him is a queer.’
So, in my opinion, James Beard was a big fat gay man who died way too soon because of his lifestyle (fat any gay). The James Beard Foundation overlooks this point and the hypocrisy fits right in at the White House.
My personal opinion as one of the few who actually met the man.
Stopped reading right there...
Kass would be more at home at the CHARLES Beard Foundation.

Sam Kass is the director of FLOTUS’ “Let’s Move” campaign. This isn’t a lecture on eating healthy. They are promoting administration talking points. Do as I say, not as I do.
I’ve heard those stories. Didn’t he also cook with no pants?
Interesting...didn’t know someone of that size could be “light on his feet”, but there’s no dispute regarding him.
“Convening a diverse group of thought leaders...”
Doesn’t get much more “Newspeak” than that.
He had pants on when I met him.
Slow reply = out of state trip.
