Again. The lead prosecutor said flatly on CBS 60 Minutes Sports that he found no evidence that Joe was involved in a coverup.

Why is this so hard to understand?

Truth is, MM didn’t witness much of anything (his words). He heard sounds.

Let's accept that as being so for the moment. I say that with some skepticism because MM is not, in my opinion, a decent or reliable person. I have no idea how much he has twisted things one way or another.

So let's assume that JP witnessed nothing, and MM witnessed nothing. And let's assume MM only told something JP vague; that an attack on a child might be occurring.

My goodness, what would the average person do! I'd being jumping out of my chair to investigate! And I just might be carrying a baseball bat.

And if I had a pretty good idea of what I'd find, I'd be telling someone near to me to call the police. An attack on a child is like a house on fire. You've got to do something, and fast.

But I tell you one thing I wouldn't do. I wouldn't be sitting at my desk looking for my supervisor's phone number.

None of this makes JP a criminal, or evil. But it does make him a weak and unethical person, at least in this incident.

“Again. The lead prosecutor said flatly on CBS 60 Minutes Sports that he found no evidence that Joe was involved in a coverup.”

He said that Joe didn’t do enough. Specifically, he politely referred to JP’s own words. I suspect that much more would have come out if they had really investigated.

“He (Paterno) said it best,” said Fina, who has since left his state post for a position with the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office. “He said: ‘I didn’t do enough... I should have done more.’”0

“Why is this so hard to understand?”

Face it. JP knew Sandusky was a pedophile.

JP knew that Sandusky was allowed to keep on molesting children.

JP most likely knew that Sandusky was part of a pedophile ring.

Why is this so hard to understand?

From MM’s own words - he didn’t recall ever seeing JS w/ 2nd mile kids around campus after 2001. Ever. But to listen to you, he paraded them around campus like a harem. Long on imagination, short on facts.

Joe was told JS was horsing around w/ a kid in the shower and he reported it, along w/ seeing that MM met w/ the AD and the head of the campus police (the proper jurisdiction). He also followed up numerous times with MM to see that he was satisfied with the way it was being handled.

But you think he should have grabbed a baseball bat?

Joe’s actual quote - twisted by Fina:

“With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had done more”

“Joe didn’t know about 1998. It actually would have been against the law for him to know about it.”

Seriously? Campus and city police had audio of Sandusky, JoePa’s second-in-command, admitting to showering naked with and fondling a young boy in the PSU football building but “the law” prevented them from informing Joe? Come on now.

“With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had done more”

Sad statement to say after getting caught covering up for a pedophile. He should have come clean and blasted everyone involved.

I guess my conversation with you must come to an end after this post. Because at no time did I say anything remotely like that. Yet you make it a key point of your argument.

Joe was told JS was horsing around w/ a kid in the shower...

There's the key point right there. It all comes down to how MM described the situation to JP. Was the situation described as a possible assault, or just as harmless fooling around?

For the moment, put aside the question of why would a ground man be "horsing around" with a boy in the shower. That alone would cause me to have an immediate "talk" with JS.

Let's use some common sense here. It had to have been described to JP as an assault, or as a possible assault. Otherwise, JP would have just laughed it off. He would not have alerted his supervisors, or anybody else.

“Joe was told JS was horsing around w/ a kid in the shower and he reported it”

According to Mc he was told JS was banging a kid in the shower and JP told Mc we will have to think about what to do about this.

Huh? MM said repeatedly on the stand that he never used any sort of anal rape type language. To Joe. To the OAG. To anyone.

This is all in your imagination. You’re entitled to think and believe what you want - no skin off my apple.

But when you present false information here as fact, I’m going to call you on it. Every time.

Uh, what does ‘assault’ and ‘slapping sounds’ and arms around waist from behind confer?

I don’t know. I wasn’t there. Neither were you. If MM saw what you think he saw, he should have gone into the shower.

As it was, he did nothing but slam a locker shut.

Ironically the actual V2 has said nothing happened in the shower that night. No wonder the OAG didn’t want him to testify.

Joe didn’t have any “suspicions”. He had a sketchy 2nd hand account.

Based on a FIRST HAND account of his young daughter's girlfriend, an employee at my company was arrested for molesting her.......

After time, it turns out the young girl was coached by the employee's ex-wife to lie and make the false accusation........Too late, his reputation was destroyed .

I commend you for your continued support of Paterno and your continued presentation of the facts........

For all he did for that university, he deserved better.......

Such a pathetic tragedy.

If the Paterno shills on this board aren't ashamed of the following truth, nothing will shame them:
1. The BEST that can be said for Paterno in this matter is he didn't step forward and look in to the reports of wrongdoing by Sandusky aggressively. Anyone with a modicum of decency should and would have. Being a busy successful coach doesn't cut it as an excuse.
2. The Worst that can be said is that he helped cover the horrid truth aggressively to solidify his own place (and the program he built) in football history.
3. No one really knows the truth between these two parameters except Joe and God, we can only discuss how horribly the disgusting behavior of Sandusky has affected all of the boys since Joe was told of an incident in the shower.

The Joe sycophants can't even own up to the BEST you can say for him, which is likely covered in Joe's haunting lament toward the end. My question: Since no one knows, why run interference for the man whose best left him at the worst possible time in his life?

If MM saw what you he said he saw, he should have gone into the shower.

The best excuse for the aged JoePa imo is that, as he listened to MM’s horror story, many of his synapses had long ceased firing, leaving him a beloved figurehead kept in place just long enough to get the “most wins” crown. What are the ruined psyches of poor, fatherless boys compared to that?
