Florida State is tops in preseason Coaches Poll ahead of Alabama and Oklahoma

Florida State is starting 2014 where it ended the 2013 season: atop the Coaches Poll.

The 2014 preseason Amway Coaches Poll was released on Wednesday and the Seminoles are No. 1 ahead of Alabama and Oklahoma, last year's participants in the Sugar Bowl. Oregon is No. 4 while the team that FSU beat in the BCS Championship Game, Auburn, is No. 5.

3: OU

4: Oregon

5: Auburn

6: THE Ohio State University

7: UCLA

8: MSU

I think they have the top three correct. Which of the three wins the national championship will depend on which team is most successful at keeping their players out of the penitentiary.

I agree with that for the most part. I would swap Ohio St and Auburn, and I would drop Baylor and move Georgia up 2 spots to 10. Watch out for Arizona St this season, they are going to surprise a lot of people.

The BCS should stand for “Bull Crap Session.”

FSU is a third rate school and team, and they are playing the equivalent of high school opposition this season. Just check out that laughable line-up. The Citadel? Really? I didn’t even know they had a team.

At least Auburn continues to maintain a tough SEC standard by continuing to play strong teams like LSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas, South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama this year, and they are number 5 to FSU?

I laugh as I imagine the Criminoles playing teams like those back to back.

This really reminds me of the year that BCS placed Hawaii as number one in the Nation, and then they played Georgia and got wiped out 41-10.

Be fair, there’s been a history of SEC teams not showing up for the Sugar Bowl. If they aren’t in the Championship Game, they have no motivation.

What game were you watching? Bama was driving in an attempt to tie the game late in the 4th quarter when Oklahoma intercepted the ball and ran it back for a TD to win by 2 TDs. The Sooners won the game in convincing fashion, but to say that Bama did not belong on the same field is an absolute stretch.

The BIG(10,11,12,14?) schools should be flip flopped in order and TOSU dropped down to around 16th. Urban Myer will pan out to be a disappointment at TOSU due to unrealistic fan expectations. Two losses a year will not cut it in old Columbus town.
