“Deem” that there is less trash and voila...less trash.
Our neighbors both work for the government, buy new stuff constantly, put the old but usable stuff on the curb (often, but not always, picked up by scrappers) and make little or no effort separate recyclables. Their volume is at least eight times ours. Yet we pay the exact same rate.
We're told that when we turn 65, we can apply for a lower per bag rate, but we have several years to go.
It shouldn't be age based anyway. It should be based on how much you consistently have picked up. It wouldn't be that hard to measure.
Perhaps time to buy stock in trash compactors for the home?
