From the movie, "Beatles Stories: A Fab Four Fan's Ultimate Road Trip" (2012).
Pretty interesting video describing how John Lennon, the King of the hippies and God of liberals everywhere, actually became conservative in his last years and was a Reagan fan. DOH! Sacrilege!

The lyrics to Revolution and Back in the USSR are pretty conservative. Not to mention Taxman.
Yeah and early in when asked who’d they vote for they answered whoever lowers taxes.
But that was before they made so much money and had it protected so well that tax rates didn’t matter to them.
Lennon was an impressionable drug addict whose ideas and ideology changed with the wind.
Beatles were not conservative. Nor has their legacy been a force for good or for a more conservative society, in fact just the opposite.
Taxman was George Harrison's baby...
98% LOL! Liberals dream tax rate. That is insane. Can you imagine making 2 cents for every dollar you earn?
In today’s terms, John was more libertarian / pacifist than lefty. He had a big falling out with Jerry Rubin (or was it Abby Hoffman?) and was embarrassed by some of his associations. He couldn’t stand Allan Ginsburg.
At the time, his behavior shocked us. And back then, Viet Nam was the litmus test for left/right. Today, it’s more complicated.
Ping for later viewing.
I am more inclined to believe that John Lennon had a King Solomon moment where he woke up and realized that money, prestige, things, etc. can’t buy happiness (or love). Sometimes it happens that when people find there is no fulfilment in earthly things, they turn to Christ who says that He will meet our every need.
If he was converted and started to change his thinking on life, it could lend credence to the belief of some that it was Yoko that arranged the hit by Mark David Chapman.
Well, I’d never heard the Yoko/assassination theory! But I DID read that he was a regular viewer of Pat Robertson’s in his last years.
I suspect he had the same issue that Mel Gibson has. And a musician friend of mine has. Sweetest, most intelligent guys in the world. But, liquor turns them into raving lunatics. I recently read that the other Beatles were happy that he got into heroin because it calmed him down. Before that, he was on LSD or booze and crazy half the time.
