Thanks for the link. Let the screams of coal and Marcellus shale are “evil” begin. Our Twp Commissioners voted to allow fracking under Twp Parks (well pads on private land). So many JOBS being created. My youngest is looking at colleges. He is very seriously considering WCCC as they have a certificate program for Oil Field Service. CC tuition is low (and many of the drilling companies will reimburse education costs). So no student debt, and a really good paying job BEFORE 20th BDay. He is very seriously considering doing that.
PA Mom - I’m not sure what field of studies that your son may be interested in, or how far away from Pgh you are, but have him look at Bidwell Training Center.
They have a Chemical Lab Technician program that will provide an associates degree in one year & includes a 2 month externship. There is no tuition, every student gets a grant.
My husband graduated from there, after he had to switch careers due to bad surgery on his shoulder. He plans on going back to school next year to get his undergrad, but Bidwell gave him an excellent start.
With the Chem Lab Tech associates, he could still look for work in the fracking field - especially for environmental lab services (water testing).
Just a thought :)
