Can’t recall the type of alternator on a Jeep but if it’s like AC Delco it might be a bad diode. Only a couple of bucks. I haven’t done one in ages so I don’t remember how to do it. Should be able to find it on the internet/YouTube.

YouTube is the greatest home handyman tool EVER!
I was able to fix my oven, my clothes dryer, and the printer in our office thanks to YouTube videos.
