Property taxes are insane - well, the school tax part of them. My Mom owns a few buildings & I do her bookkeeping...and wow - I just cringe when I see the tax bills.

In SOME cases (certainly not Murrysville or Upper St. Clair) the continual rise in property taxes can actually cause a decrease in property value. Who wants a property with such high taxes? Why we got out of Allegheny County.

I’m in Indiana County. So far, our taxes have been low (living in an old house in a now defunct coal mining ‘patch’ town), but taxes are set to go up.

Westmoreland county isn’t all that great - she owns a building there and 3 lots, in Lower Burrell, and the city/school taxes are terrible. Her building in Allegheny County is bigger, bigger lot, and the taxes are less!!

And yes, no one wants to buy a white elephant. Insane. And then the counties/cities/townships don’t do any maintenance or you have to BEG them to fix something. And they always have their hands out for more. Makes me want to move back to Tulsa, OK (I spent 10 years out there in the 90’s).
