That bat doesn't look any more like "the devil" than any little brown bat you'd find in your back yard! But then, I suppose to most people little brown bats look like "the devil" too.

Why does everyone associate bats with "the devil?" Because they fly at night? So do owls and whippoorwills. Because of Bram Stoker? Where are all the animal rights crazies and their charge of "speciesism" when it comes to bats?

Sorry. I used to be a member of Bat Conservation International and am an avid chiropterophile.

We love bats here in Florida. People put up ‘bat houses’ like others do bird houses. Bats eat mosquitoes. We love anything that eats mosquitoes, especially bats and dragonflies......................Dragonflies eat them as both adults and in their larval stage in the water!.................
