"Tequila" by the Champs was a major hit, but Glen Campbell didn't join the group until after it scored (by the way, I like the flip side, Train to Nowhere much better). He may have been on their later hit, Limbo Rock (1962).

Thank you for the correction. I've been under the mistaken impression that Campbell, Seals and Crofts were on the Tequila recording for so long, I don't remember where I heard it. It was long before the WWW, I know that. From this website, I find this quote:

Dash recalls that they re-recorded "Tequila" and being told that the new recording was intended to replace the hit version for legal reasons.

Perhaps this is the source of the confusion.

No information was given as to when the re-recording took place, or whether it was ever released.

In any event, the Wikipedia page for the song leaves no doubt that the facts are as you say.
