Boca Man Alleged to Have Shipped Spiny Lobster Illegally to China
The Palm Beach Post ^

A 60-year-old Boca Raton man is facing federal charges of helping to pack, mark and ship Florida spiny lobster illegally to Hong Kong, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Eric Burman pleaded not guilty last week to the charges. If convicted, he faces a sentence of up to five years in prison followed by three years of supervised release, as well as a criminal fine of up to $250,000.

Through a Pompano Beach business he owns, Burman “was engaged in the wholesale commercial seafood industry, including the export of live Florida spiny lobster to the seafood market in China,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. Spiny lobster is considered a delicacy that brings high prices in many Asian markets.

During August and September 2010, Burman is alleged to have bought spiny lobster from harvesters in Monroe County without providing proper documentation to the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, according to documents made public this week.

The lobsters were then taken to his Pompano Beach site and a “co-conspirator” packaged, marked and shipped the lobster under the company’s name to Hong Kong through Miami International Airport, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Meanwhile we are being invaded by tens of thousands of disease ridden illiterates — while the people who are supposed to be protecting America work towards its destruction.

Well, he will have an interesting response to the “what are you in here for” question when he gets to prison.

I’ve had no end of training on what you can and can’t ship to foreign countries. I had no idea that lobster would be on the list. The article doesn’t say what the reason is behind the law. Does anybody know?

Was shipping lobsters the crime or was it not filling out the correct form? Quote:

These SOB's in government are really sticklers for paperwork. He should have told him he sent all his filled out forms to the IRS, who then digitized them and put them on the hard drive with Lerner's emails.

Such laws are not based on reason. They are exercises in bureaucratic authority.

We have so many federal laws that the average American commits three federal felonies a day.

http://www.threefeloniesaday.com/Youtoo/tabid/86/Default.aspx

The NSA catalogs them all. Whenever Ubama needs an excuse to go after someone they provide him a list of crimes to choose from.

He should have told him he sent all his filled out forms to the IRS, who then digitized them and put them on the hard drive with Lerner's emails.

Or he sent all the paperwork to Angela Cory (Florida State Attorney) and she wants $100,000.00 to release them.

This smells exactly like the Gibson guitar raid, this guy is probably a GOP donor.
