I had an e-mail exchange with a longtime friend of our family today who is an extremely intelligent ex-academic but who apparently totally believes, heart and soul, in man-made global warming and believes that anyone who doesn’t is, in the short form, evil. We have definitely entered a post-modern New Dark Age where magic and superstition again reign over reason and tolerance.
My Mother often talked about the summers of 1934-1936 in South Dakota. She said daytime temperatures would often be above 115 degrees and at night temperatures might go down to maybe 100. Of course no one had air conditioning and she talked about how her mother would hang wet sheets on a clothes line in the living room and use a small electric fan for evaporative cooling.
