Near downtown?
This is actually in the midst of a colony of sons of 0bama and their lady friends.
To call it “near downtown” is a bit of sensationalist reporting. No one I know will be surprised by this.

No information about the victim, no description of anyone. But the police don’t think it was a random attack.
Code words. Everyone knows the basics of what happened here.

downtown has become code for “don’t walk the streets after dark”.
To: Gamecock
Wouldn’t that be natural causes in Columbia?

Have you noticed how many more shootings are occurring in Barry’s new “fundamentally transformed” America? Barry has turned the entire country into a Chicago style Gangland. Gangstas are everywhere.

If memory from 2012 is correct, there are some bars not far from there.
Someone made an unwanted pass, rejected an unwanted pass, belonged to wrong gang/group/clique, or flashed too much cash and got robbed?

The bars are about 1/2 mile or so away. Some feral youth from this area have been known to wander down to the bar district and cause horrible mischief.
I don’t believe in karma, but perhaps this is an example of such.

I make it a point to not be anywhere near that area whenever possible.
A couple of things take me through every so often and at least they are usually in daylight.

Slightly off-topic -
I'm seriously thinking of moving to upstate SC (Greenville area) by end of this year - any suggestions?
To: Gamecock
One can hope for karma.
If lucky.

Three blocks from Benedict College and Allen University, two of the worst historically black colleges in the country; four blocks from Gonzales Gardens, which is one of Columbia’s projects. My guess is a “business” dispute. That neighborhood is a hellhole.

Greenville is a nice place. Little cooler than Columbia (99 vs 100 degrees.). Traffic is horrible. Close to the mountains. Not sure about the cost if living.
