5 cents for a package of seed, and you get more than 10 in a package. Those were the days. ;)

I stop by a nursery on TX 95 in Elgin and bought some lettuce and turnip seed. $.50 for a 1/4 cup of turnips and $.75 for a 1/4 cup of black seed lettuce.

I'm leaving on vacation Sunday, so I have covered with netting the four large tomato plants of different varieties that are loaded with green tomatoes. There is no space a squirrel could get into to get at those.

I picked some cucumbers and that one hot pepper to take with me. I also covered with netting the pepper plants that are now growing peppers.

Have a chance of thunderstorms today/tonight and a better chance Saturday and Sunday. Next week looks like a drying out period. My plants are soaked with water now. They will be okay for all next week and then some.

As I said on last week's thread, I haven't been out of my town for over a year and a half, so I'm wondering what the world looks like past my city limits. Maybe I'll pass through an area where the US President isn't Obama. If I find that, I'll pitch a tent and stay there. I'm also wondering if the American Indians have stopped attacking travelers. I'll check out the newest log cabins while on the trail (I said it's been a really long time since I left here).

I'll have my computer with me so I'll check in on the gardening thread to keep up.
