So if the thing goes into a kernel panic on the interstate, or hits a segfault in the autodrive system, where’s the manual override that will let you move the vehicle to a safe location?

Or worse, if the navigation system decides to take you down a private road, or along goat path, or even a road that’s no longer in use? Or, if you’re trying to get to someplace that google maps doesn’t know about yet, like a new housing development?

Sounds like the perfect car for rolling teen partays! No more DWI's. Whatever will MADD do?

I’m excited by this. I have epilepsy and can’t drive, so this would give me my independence back when it came to travelling non-walk-able distances...

Just imagine an EMP burst. No manual back up in a device intended for transportation... That just gives me the creeps.

You know that 20+ queue of cars you have to wait in to turn onto the interstate ramp in the morning? Or that long line of cars in one lane as you approach a construction coned section? The one where several people drive up in the open lane and cut in because some drivers won’t keep with the flow?

The google car is the one that leaves the biggest gap permitting just about everybody to skirt the line.

I’ve seen a product development video and the google car even lets bicyclist BEHIND it to pass.

If I crash, can I just reboot?

No steering wheel. Or brake.

What could go wrong?

I have it on good authority that the Google cars require an up-to-date version of Google Maps to run.
