AUSTIN, Texas (Reuters) - Neither U.S. Senator Ted Cruz nor Governor Rick Perry are on the ballot in Tuesday's run-off elections in Texas, but that doesn't mean the two larger-than-life politicians who share a penchant for cowboy boots are not central figures in the contest.

Rick needs to be careful who he hangs around with since “Dirty” Dewhurst and Jerry “The Jerk” Patterson’s days are numbered!!

Captain Gardasil needs not worry. He can be star of the Texas RINOs, though he has competition from his good buddy, DewCrist.

Cruz is definitely far more popular nationally.

Cruz is far more popular here in Texas, too.

I’d prefer these two work together. They complement each other very well. What one lacks, the other has in abundance.

Perry has decades of experience in the Executive, proven economic talents, a passion for states’ rights and limited government, and big-money connections. Cruz has decades of experience in the Judiciary, a passion for upholding the Constitution, inside-baseball knowledge of D.C. players, championship debate skills, and massive tea-party support.

Together they could change the face of politics-as-usual in D.C. It’s too bad we can’t run them as a team for POTUS.

Right now, I’m good with a President Cruz, but I’d prefer to have him on SCOTUS. What I like about Perry in the Executive is that he can be reined in by voter pressure if/when he makes a bad call - and every politician does now and then.

Unfortunately, Perry has self-identified his core essence when he endorsed Dewhurst when he ran for US Senate against Ted Cruz. You have to be careful if you’re thinking of laying down with dogs—you’ll likely get fleas.

I like em both. They both want to run for President so they are going to butt heads but both good guys.

I wish we had two guys like that in GA instead of a RINO Governor and 2 RINO senators. None of them worthy of a presidential run.

Perry's got a legion of RINO kooks who will support him regardless how liberal he proves himself to be.

Cruz has the conservative right.

Apples and oranges.

Captain Gardasil? lol!
