The Saxons had long handled Axes, the Normans swords. The Normans were mounted the Saxons afoot. The wounds imply he was a Saxon Brit—Not a Norman. These wounds were inflicted when he may have been wearing a helmet too! My ancestor was a Norman knight who fought at Hastings. 45 years old implys he was a noble—peassants didn’t live that long and stay in shape for battle.
