Back when I was a SAC trained killer we had about 12 to 16 in a wing if my memory is correct. About six on or in the alert area an six or so on the flight line and hangers etc ....Kincheloe AFB back in early 70’s...

I'll confirm. We had 15 or so.

Yes, I remember about 15 on average, commanded by a Full Colonel.

Likewise, in the 1980s, a squadron was generally 12 or 13 jets, one of which was in Phase for major routine maintenance.

1-2 squadrons in a Wing, so, tops, 48 bombers. . .

A wing of Bombers in the modern era is two squadrons of 6.

In the olden days it was three squadrons of 12.

About double for fighter wings.

Or so I've heard:)
