“Yes Turner field was built for the Olympics. I was there its perfectly fine.”

Not really? You know what the problem with Turner Field is? It’s in Atlanta.

While that sounds facetious, the fact is, the Braves did several studies to see where their actual ticket-buying fans were coming from... the ones that actually shelled out cash for games.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, they were overwhelmingly white, and from the outer Atlanta suburbs. And they were buying fewer tickets every year. Yes, Atlanta crime is part of that. So, they decided to go to where the paying customers are. It doesn’t excuse making taxpayers pay for the stadium, but the Braves had good reason to move. In 20 years, Atlanta will be Detroit with humidity.

Turner Field was built adjacent to the old Braves stadium. People have been going to see the ball games in that crime infested area for 40 years or more.

I thought they should have built turner field in the burbs in the 90’s. Many people dont’ want it out near them because of the traffic and crime that will follow it. If you live in Atlanta you know what I mean.

Downtown Atlanta is already a mess you won’t have to wait 20 years.
