Wondering myself as a guy going through divorce with both kids living with me. I am getting my ass handed to me by an addicted soon to be x-spouse. Divorce “court” (family law) is decidedly against those with testicles.
In the other post, the ol’ boy was fishin’ as his deceased wifes funeral went past.
I became aware of that at least a decade ago because of reading stories and comments here,

I am so sorry for you, really, not being funny. I’ve been through three wives (one died) but the last two have all said the same thing(too pare down one actual comment from #2 or #3) when asked by the Judge “What do you want from this man?” Her response was (and I’m not kidding) “I want this guy the F&&& out of my life.” I told her I was going fishing. Three months later I told her look in my sock drawer for $2500 I had stashed there and send it to me in Belize. No sense of humor at all.
What are the laws in your state for alimony, child support, and custody...Don’t tell me, just use them to protect yourself. If you have an addicted person who is dangerous to you children, then get that evidence to present to the court.
Surely there are people who can testify for you, and maybe some documents to substantiate your reliability as well as the addicted person’s lack of responsible behavior.
Find people who have went through this in a forum in your state, or maybe a support group. The more you know about how others have fared the better off you are. If she has a great attorney, get a better one. Your children are your priority, and it’s your need to protect their future and safety.
