When they did this for police departments it ended up with numerous incidents of corruption and increases in crime.

Teaching is a middle class occupation. It requires university degrees and the pay isn't very high.
It takes a certain personality to get that higher education without the reward of high salaries. It requires altruism.

How about in their knowledge? Or lack of it...

The groups want more to be done to help teachers more accurately mirror the students in their classrooms.
The only way to handle this properly is to encourage more white teachers to become transracials. As the white teachers slowly change to black they must be protected very carefully lest they become victims of racial discrimination from both sides. I'm not sure exactly how the transracial medical procedures work but we can ask Michael Jackson. Oh , wait. I guess we can't.

This is a piece of propaganda from the AP (what else would it be). An article like this with the message that there disproportionately less “minority” teachers, is to tell us that the pressure is on school districts now to hire less white teachers lest they be called “racists”. Takes a little reading between the lines is all.

U.S. teachers are nowhere near as diverse as their students. If they were our schools would be even worse

Diversity gap? Is there something wrong if blacks are with a white teacher? In kindergarten 1+1=2 no matter if you are black, white, Asian or from Mars. Black math is not 1+1=3 if you want IT to be...3.
When will we become colorblind?

So?
The word “diverse” pretty much means “we selected you for reasons other than talent.”
Admit it, libs, it’s the stink in your collective shorts.

I was listening to a talk in Honolulu yesterday by a full Hawaiian pastor about the role of the Black Robe preachers in the American Revolution. Here he was praising the Founding Fathers in the most riveting rhetoric, and the value to the world of the United States.
The focus on race is one aspect of the dehumanizing plan to herd us into totalitarianism.

yet fewer than 1 in 5 of their teachers is nonwhite. Isn't that why they're called "minorities?"

The unqualified teaching the uneducable.
To: Olog-hai
And guess what, a lot of teachers still know more than the average student!
This is clearly not politically correct and must be dealt with.
We’ve got to make the teachers as Ignorant as the students, so we can keep the students really ignorant. I believe this is the official NEA position. It certainly seems to be.
