3 p.m. update: A man is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after the construction foreman he shot pulled out a concealed handgun and shot back, according to police.
The man had been employed at a construction site at Rio Grande Street near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard but was fired this month, senior police officer Veneza Bremner said. He returned to the site last week and was threatening the foreman, a disturbance that was reported to police, she said. When he returned again Wednesday, he shot and injured the foreman, according to police.
The foreman, who is a concealed handgun license holder, pulled out his own gun and fired back, Bremner said. The man dropped to the ground and witnesses tried to hold him down when he pulled out a knife. No one else was injured, she said.
Police have not released the man’s name and no charges had been filed as of 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Earlier: Two men were injured in a shooting near a construction site on Rio Grande Street near the University of Texas campus Wednesday morning, officials said.
The shooting occurred about 11:45 a.m. just north of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, officials said. Both men were taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge; one with a serious injury and the other with potentially life-threatening injuries, officials said.
Police are on the scene, and no other details were immediately available.
Definitely a contra indication of personal safety....

The comments are surprising, in that they represent what liberals REALLY THINK about guns, but normally don’t post it on public forums.
Often I will put up a mocking post of liberals (and identify it as such) in our local rag, only to be told that I have NO IDEA as to what I’m talking about - but then read the comments here.
It’s EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that conservatives UNDERSTAND just what these people want, or enough will, yet again, get fooled by Democrat sweet-talkers. You MUST try to understand these people, if you ever DREAM of being an effective opposition.
