Just a little kid the first time I saw Gunga Din on TV and
it remains one of my all time favorites. At one time I
took the trouble to memorize the Kipling poem that the movie
was based on.

I do believe that in one of “The Killer”s (Jerry Lee) songs, he sings, “Hangin’ in like Gunga Din”. I use that particular phrase a lot, myself.

Gunga Din was on Turner Movie Classics the other day -
think it was that station.
I’ll watch it over and over.
This time I fell asleep before it ended - not because of the movie.

Didn’t Victor Mclaglen play in a bunch of John Wayne movies including ‘The Quiet Man’ in his latter years? Had never seen this one and liked it.

Great movie. It’s greatest limitation was the over-acting of the oddly-chosen cast. Which was also why it was a big hit.
