Interesting. Higher than I thought.

All of them should make no more than $100,000 per year. It’s only fair. Reallty, no one should make more than 10 times the minimum wage. That’s just social justice. (/Bolshevism)

I made quite a bit more in sales with merely a high school diploma (at the time) in the 1980’s (when it bought a lot more). I can’t even imagine how much I could make now with if my health was good and with a BA. I’m glad some people want to get into medicine, but if it’s money you’re after there are easier routes.

It would be interesting to see a comparison to income increases over time (say 2013 vs 2003)

What is interesting is if you compare these incomes to what similar physicians make in Switzerland and Germany, two comparable countries.

I'm quite familiar with the world of medicine, having worked for 20+ years for one of the world's most famous hospitals.Osama Obama & Pals just don't know how difficult it is to reach the point where a physician is skilled enough to needlessly amputate a person's leg just to make a quick $10K.Four years of undergrad, four years medical school, anywhere between two and ten years post graduate training and *then* you can look forward to 70 hour work weeks. As just one example of that long work week...my cardiologist,a senior staff member of the same hospital for whom I worked, just sent me an email a week or so ago telling me to adjust my meds.He sent it at 10:30PM.

Osama Obama & Pals are playing the class envy game...again.And there are enough parasite Americans who believe it to make these very,*very* dangerous times.

Do these figures assume all professional expenses have been paid like liability etc ?

Don't forget that many physicians pay as high as 50% of their income in malpractice insurance, which they must continue to pay after retirement until the statute of limitations runs out for lawsuits.

I suspect both orthopedic surgeons and cardiologists get such high pay because they pay ungodly malpractice premiums.

In my experience, I've also never run into doctors who work as hard or are as highly skilled as doctors in both groups.

That’s earnings. What’s take-home? You got your malpractice insurance, student loans, hospital fees, greens fees, taxes, taxes, taxes, and (did I mention) taxes.

Med school and residency plus fellowship and ongoing training then cost of running a business/practice, staffing, their benefits, insurance/malpractice, their own family expenses...And so on! It is a LOT of debt. And if it means that they are very good at what they do for me/my family, then so be it. I don’t begrudge them their money/wealth—they work hard for it. Jealousy/envy dies not serve anyone well.

For someone who performs such a vital service, I wouldn’t care if they made 4 times as much.

Getting to Dr. is a tortuous path and most more than earn every nickel.

Anyone want to trade with Cuba, Neo-USSR or UK? No me. Among the worst thing the damn libs ever did was work at destroying the best Medicine in the world.

factor in the expense of malpractice insurance and taxes, and their net isn’t as good as you think

I made my kids keep clear of medicine, given what was coming.

I sure hope these doctors enjoy their paychecks - in California, they are just one legislative bill from being MANDATED to take Obamacare patients, given that very few will now take them, given the pittance they receive.

Orthopedists were the highest earners

Coincidentally, Orthopedists are also the biggest Alpha Hotels you'll ever meet outside of a DNC convention.

I've dealt with doctors of many stripes for almost two decades. Radiologists and GP's are the most likeable, IMHO.

Now once we find out how much they pay for malpractice insurance, student loan repayments, continuing education fees, licensing and accounting fees, equipment costs and so forth, and whether all these were paid from the figures quoted or covered in addition to them, we’ll know what the docs really earn.....
