Gosnell Movie crowdfunding push crosses the million-dollar mark

I’m taking Easter off, but it’s still a good time for an update on the efforts by our friends Phelim McAleer and Ann McIlhenny, filmmakers of Not Evil Just Wrong and Frack Nation. They want to tell the story of Kermit Gosnell, whom they describe as “the worst serial killer in American history,” but they need to raise funds to shoot the TV movie. Phelim and Ann are halfway through their IndieGoGo crowdfunding push for their Gosnell Movie project, and passed the $1 million level in fundraising yesterday:

Dear Supporters,

We have just passed $1,000,000 and want to say very special thank you to all of you who have contributed to get us this far, it’s a really big milestone. We are so grateful to you.

Thank you and a Happy Easter

Phelim

Ann

Magdalena

Just to remind everyone about the Gosnell case, here’s Ann reading part of the grand jury report:

The media doesn’t want to tell this story, Phelim told me on Thursday’s TEMS, which is why he and Ann want to make sure they do:

Phelim McAleer updates TEMS on Gosnell Movie crowdfunding from Ed Morrissey on Vimeo.

If you want to make sure the story gets told, contribute now to the Gosnell Movie project at IndieGoGo. They have to hit $2.1 million to get the project funded, and they have three weeks to raise the rest of the funds. There is no time like the present!

I just want to know what happens to that money when no TV/movie outlet will touch it?

I’d rather read a book about the case then sit through a movie.

But a movie will reach more people than a book will. Many people just do nor read today, sad to say.

Hundreds of millions of e-books are being sold every year and the numbers are growing. People are still reading, they are just moving away from the printed book.

A movie is easier to push ideas. Why do you think the commies took over Hollywood and not all the book publishers?

I’ve been keeping tabs on the project.

They’re on track to squeek by at this rate.

I have no clue how they’re going to find a man as physically repulsive as Gosnell. It’s as if each sin was marked upon his face.

I hope they do actually make it, don’t get me wrong. And I too would rather read the book. But the people that actually NEED to see it wouldnt. So I would bet this goes to DVD and then is forgotten about. Sad state of affairs but it won’t shock me.

It’s not his look ,, it’s his disinterest in anything human... he is a void ... and he was at it with no thought to his victims for 40 years ... google (”mothers day massacre” 1973) .. nice guy ,, inserting spring loaded razor blades into women to kill second trimester babies...

Oh, I know that there are many readers still around, but, I suspect that most of them are on our side politically regarding nonfiction books. What I had in mind was reaching the many non-conservatives whose reading material is not deep or is just trash.
