I know you just disseminate the cartoons, Pookie, but I think FReepers should know that the Founding Fathers did not write the current “First Amendment” first. It was actually the third amendment proposed. The current “Second Amendment” was actually the fourth.
Article the First and Article the Second dealt with enumeration of representatives and representative pay (later ratified as the 27th Amendment in 1992), respectively.
Article the First is the only remaining article from the original 12 that has not been ratified. It would shake America to its core if it were. The Founders put it first, I think, for a reason. It’s tragic that it’s still out there.
