Unless you’re doing your own encryption, Google’s cataloging your mail anyway. Don’t believe the “we encrypt your mail for you” BS. That means they have the private keys and they can unencrypt it whenever they way.
I recommend a free Amazon AWS micro instance running Postfix, Dovecot, Amavis, ClamAV, and Roundcube webmail for personal email.
Thank God I got away from Google when I did. I’ve been Google-free for 5 years and don’t regret it one bit.
