Armed robbery with a BB gun from what I’ve read.
5 years probation and restitution.
If rehabilitation is the real aim of prison, then let the guy alone.Sounds like he acheived rehabilitation on his own.
He shouldn’t punished for the states mistake. At worst, he should serve the time he originally was sentenced to.
Given all of the circumstances, I believe a pardon may be in order.
I was arrested for driving on a suspended license that they failed to suspend and I even renewed during the so called suspension.
The judge said he wasn’t going to punish me for someone else’s screw up and suspended it himself dropped the unlawful driving charge and sent me downstairs to pay the $120 reinstatement fee. My license was actually suspended for about 10 minutes.
When the “law makers” are held to the same standards, I’ll attempt to give a damn.
But I say in this case, let the thing drop. He's a totally different guy, and the authorities screwed up, not him. Sounds like a fate and God thing working here.
“Hey, Sgt. Joe. How do ya spell disease?”
“Uh...really Private, din’t da learn you nuttin in school? R-E-L-E-A-S-E. See, dat ain’t so hard, now is it?”
He is a different man now.
I hope the publicity sets him free and that his family grows stronger through this trial.
rehab is not the real aim of prison....vengence is, which is rightful in most cases...
Enemy of the state...
“Cornealious Mike Anderson as an inmate in state prison even though he never showed up there”
How exactly does this happen? Aren’t you supposed to be taken into custody immediately after being sentenced? Never knew you could just say no to the prison bus.
If he was let go, on purpose or not, that’s the state’s fault.
More evidence of incometency in all things government, as the general rule.
I believe government should be subjected to much greater review and supervision, from outside of itself. At every level.
Take the situation, whereby jurisdictions run up unfunded liabilities, hoping for unreasonable rate of return, etc.
Elected civilian review boards should have power, to call “foul” and publicize such misdeeds.
These boards should have equal or greater power than other officials, elected or appointed.
I AGREE!They Are Just Trying To”Scapegoat”this guy!!!
I would argue that punishment or justice is the aim, and that punishment is different than vengeance.
But I would agree that rehabilitation is not the point.
If rehabilitation is the real aim of prison, then let the guy alone.Sounds like he acheived rehabilitation on his own.
The clerk(s) who screwed up should do the time.
People believe it to have value and so it is honored.
