Philadelphia – Senior defenseman Justin Holl’s shorthanded goal, in the last second of the game, gave the Gophers a 2-1 victory over North Dakota in the second semifinal of the Frozen Four on Thursday night in Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center.
Just when it appeared the game would go into overtime tied at 1-1, Holl’s shot on a last rush changed everything. Kyle Rau and Brady Skjei had assists on the play.
Sam Warning of the Gophers ended 51 minutes of scoreless hockey with a goal in the third periodd and seconds later North Dakota responded to knot up keep the tight contest again.
North Dakota’s Connor Gaarder scored 32 seconds after Warning.
Before this offensive spike, there was no room for scoring. The few opportnities North Dakota and the Gophers snuck by opposing defenses were continually stuffed.
Gophers goaltender Adam Wilcox and North Dakota goaltender Zane Gothberg combined for 45 saves after 40 minutes, each outdoing the other when given the chance.

Yes it is. I went to UND. The only consolation, is that Justin Holl is a Blackhawks draft pick. Other than that, it sucked.
UND-UM is a great rivalry. It was our turn. We haven’t won a title since 03’.

I like it. Since they can’t be the Sioux anymore, they should go with that. That name should cause some liberal blubbering. especially at the NCAA. They would probably cite sources from Florida State on the blatant racism.
