The breeder whose dog sired Niko, the 130-pound dog who killed a 4-year-old Houma girl in March, says his animal is being wrongly blamed.
"I know everyone is blaming Kimbo, and I don't think it's right," said Gustavo Castro, a California man, in a conversation via Facebook messenger.
Kimbo, famous in the world of XL American bully breeding, was Niko's father. After Niko's attack, several other owners of Kimbo's progeny said in online forums that their dogs were also unstable. One man, Zach Dank, said his Kimbo son attacked him, breaking his forearm and tearing through the muscle.
He said that, after the attack, he warned Castro not to breed Kimbo, "or a child was going to get killed one day." Dank was attacked in 2010, two years before the breeding that produced Niko.

I bet every street thug is going to want one of his pups now that this story broke.
Gotta keep it real ya know.
DAMN! That’s a BIG DOG! I had a 200 lb. Old English Mastiff growing up, and he was a big mush ball.
These savage animals need to be put down. Just shoot them in the head.
But enough about the breeders. As for the dogs; yeah. Kill them too.
What’s a Houma?
Castro’s alleged mind is AKIMBO!
“I know everyone is blaming Kimbo, and I don’t think it’s right,”
No it’s not right, I’m thinking YOU are to blame.
I think it may be a parrish in La.
And that street thug is going to stand there while his dawg ravages a baby mama's child THAT HE FATHERED saying "the little $$$$er deserved it".
Whats a Houma?

GEEZ LAWEEZ!
Lost his only UFC fight in 2010, never returned.
A “big mush ball” with the proper breeding, unlike the dog here that has repeated inbreeding in its family tree. Anyone can create a breed of Frankenstein’s monster dogs by repeated inbreeding, often with catastrophic results, the very thing that appears to have happened here. I have a Great Dane with a wonderful, silly, friendly personality that partly comes from good breeding, something your Mastiff also clearly had. That trouble with so many Pits and Pit derivatives to say is they’re recklessly bred by hoodlums who are seeking to produce the worst imaginable traits and get them all too often.
Understood. I was commenting more on the size of the dog than its pedigree. Inbreeding for specific traits is, IMO, dumb, because you wind up introducing maladies that are less common in properly-bred animals.
I”m sorry, but outies are just gross.
That’s the downside to big breeds. It’s crazy how common hip dysplasia is becoming in some of the larger breeds.
