That sounds about right. Only 6% of America seriously wants gays to get their way at all times. These 6% of people are the noise makers and fanatics who use money and networking and crowd sourcing to get their way. They make it seem as if they are a huge faction when in reality it's just a few fanatics with their fingers on all the right buttons.
