Netflix doesn’t have much of a selection, and too much of what it offers isn’t very family-friendly.

Is there another option we have for movies and TV shows?

I just hold on to my DVD collection, and that way only I can decide what is right for me and for my home. When these companies “recommend” something to you, it isn’t based on your prior selections, but rather based on what THEY want you to watch because of their agenda. Nobody has the right to have so much power over me, especially when I am giving them my hard-earned money. The best way to say no to them is to cancel, and the email you will get from them asking you to come back (before you block them for good) is proof that you are doing something effective by saying no to them.

That sounds like a good idea.

I know someone who started going to yard sales and flea markets every weekend, and he amassed a collection of at least 200 DVDs. I tried it myself but still had trouble finding family-friendly movies. Still, at least then we would have better control over what comes into our homes.
