I know you're pretty familiar with the Texas music scene, Liberty, but am I correct in my assessment that SXSW is primarily a leftist event? I think the likes of dopehead Willie Nelson and his ilk are at the core of it. I've never been there and will never go since a lot of liberals and hippies congregate there. If I'm wrong, let me know, but my opinion is that SWSW is a black stain on the Great State of Texas.

SXSW started out as a Primarily Tech Conference/Trade Show event. It has devolved into a sort of metropolitan, corporate sponsored Burning Man Meets Austin City Limits.

SXSW is a great venue to showcase new talent and promote new technology. It is in Austin so the majority of the participants are somewhat to the left but it’s a college town and that plays well there. It’s kind of a cross between Santa Fe and Madison Wisconsin. Lots of celebs moving to/vacationing there. When you hear dem pols saying they are trying to turn Texas blue - think Austin.
