Blizzards and AK's go together like baseball and hotdogs. Since we're in the middle of another snow storm and given the recent passing of Kalashnikov, I decided to talk about a few of the things that make AK's so unique.
The AK featured in this video is a Polytech Legend in 7.62x39 which I bought back in the late 1980's. The bull-pup I affectionately call the "Hebrew Hammer" is a IWI Tavor with a Mepro MOR red-dot sight.
I love my Saiga AK. Simple and brutally reliable. SHTF, it's the go to. The Mrs. gets the AR.
I love my AK 74. Not gonna drop in the snow though. LOL!!
I like the AKs and have owned a bunch of semi-auto versions. If I had to choose tho, I think I would prefer the SKS. The SKS only has a ten round mag but it is not hard to load another 10.
The SKS is more powerful due to the longer barrel and more accurate. Sometimes a way more accurate.
Samuel L. Jackson speaks about the AK-47.

Is it possible to buy a Russian-made AK-47? I have a non-Russian made rifle but would prefer “the real thing.”
Anyone know how I could go about this? I suppose there may be some used ones and that would be OK.

IMO, this is the only brand of mag you should use in a Saiga. Pro Mag has not performed consistently well:
