Few ever thought of that.

After the last World Cup, my relatives in England, and friends in Italy, told me that they were afraid that the US would win the World Cup in the next 4-8 years. I was surprised, to say the least. We still have a long way to go.

“I would bring in Gaelic Football.....”

Gaelic football is a great game, but let’s be honest: It’s played by people who aren’t quite tough enough for hurling:

No. Youth soccer is big, has been for a long time, and in that long time it really hasn’t translated into adult fandom.

I’m not a huge fan of soccer by any means, but I don’t understand the hate it generates. Seems like it has it’s good points and bad points just like any sport.

For me, I don’t like the flopping that goes on, but I probably have only seen clips so I don’t even know how much it really happens. Can the players self police the jerks or or does the penalty system preclude that?

I do like how they can get the ball to knuckle through the air by kicking it so it doesn’t spin, very hard for the goalie to read and react to I imagine. Probably the only other sport besides baseball to take advantage of the knuckleball effect, at least that I can think of.

If the well-deserved consensus here is that soccer players are frequently flopping in an effort to get undeserved calls, I still think Mike Krzyzewski must be involved somewhere.

Certainly. Under Coach K., Duke flops as much trying to draw offensive foul charges as soccer players do trying to draw fouls. If there isn't a Duke game on this afternoon, just google.

Duke Flops.

That was hilarious. The comparison to the fainting goats was particularly funny.
